My observation toward face book
My first time to contact face book is the time when I accompanied my friend in the cyber café. We applied for access to it and then played the game called “happy farm”. After a while, I felt bored with it. Therefore, I didn’t know why it is so popular at that time.
For now, I see more and more people around me begin using face book as the way to communicate. I think there are several causes to make the force of its popularity spread quickly. The First is through propaganda of media like the quite a few news related to it recently. The second is by word of mouth among young people. The third is its integrated function because it includes the functions of blog, msn and online game etc. by the way, I even heard that my friend it can be used to search your long lost contact friends. There are many functions integrated together, no wander the number of users increase quickly and worldwide.
Although it has been so popular in Taiwan nowadays, it can only arouse not much interest to me. That’s because I don’t want to waste my time to give it much attention. Therefore, for me I prefer to know it about some basic part of it which I consider useful rather than the whole function. To tell the truth, I’m also afraid to addict to it.

My Observation on Facebook
I find one word that represents Facebook is community. When I look up the word online, it means a social group of any size whose members reside in a specific locality, share government, and often have a common cultural and historical heritage. The online community of Facebook is relatively different from its meaning. Its users are people from all over the world, who have varied cultural and historical background. It means that you can make foreign friends on Facebook. It helps a lot for English majors, because it is always good for us to know people from different countries and learn their valuable cultures and language. It provides a plaform for people to make friends.
Some of the games on Facebook share the same function as communities. You can develop friendship from the games by visiting your friends’ place, solving random events, and giving away gifts. People can know more about you through the psychological tests which you have done.
Its influence is so tremendous that some companies use Facebook as a way to gain fame and to make profits. Take the just-released movie, 2012, as an example. It has advertisements on some websites. I clicked it and played a small game concerning the theme of the movie. After playing it, it asked if I wanted to post the result on Facebook. By doing so, other people might see the message and, thus, provoke their interest towards the movie. Furthermore, they might want to go to the movies and spend their money. The goal of the company achieves.
By using Facebook, you can reach the world.

Living in this modern society, we all have the experience surfing on the internet. Most of us have our own personal blog like wretchcc, pchome, and facebook, and we all use it to post our daily pictures, write down our feeling, and connect our life with others. But few of us know that these kinds of web blog will lead our life into a chaos, and lazy one. Nowadays, facebook is the latest and the most popular blog in the world. There are thousands of people consider it as an essential, important and basic requirement in their life. They spend most of their time on playing game, talking to others, viewing the pictures, and typing their paragraphs. It’s not just such of wasting time, but wasting life. People will addict to it. They will sit in front of the computer all day long and do nothing, and that will cause a serious consequence. Moreover, facebook is a virtual platform which connects the world into a small web. People can make friends with anyone on this planet, but there is a safety problem. People may meet someone that they don’t even fully understand, and they may be cheated or kidnapped by the stranger. Besides, the information on the internet is not reliable. People may be fooled or deceived by the cheated group, and people may lose their money or life because of it. I am not saying that facebook or others kinds of blog is useless. It still brings us the convenience in our life, but I believe we should not addict to it. Many people are too crazy about it; they should learn how to use it in a right way.

No one will doubt that Facebook is one of the most popular stuffs in Taiwan or even in the whole world. As it is a trend now, I don’t think there is any shortage to use it; especially it is fun and has lots of functions.
Before, we usually interact with our friends on the MSN or the Noname(無名). For MSN, we need to have people’s accounts to talk with them, which means that it is impossible to talk with people we do not know. Also for Noname, it is hard to meet more new friends. But for Facebook, after I leave a message on my friend’s website, both of my friends and my friend’s friends can see the message. It is not one to one anymore. It is one to many now.
Because of Facebook, I find people, who have the same interests, baseball. What is unique for Facebook is that we can see people’s headshot. On other’s websites, we can only see people’s nickname. We won’t know anything about the person. But from the picture, at least, we can see his appearance and know more about one person. If two people have the same interests and they think each other’s appearance is acceptable, it is possible for them to be together, or at least to be friends. It is always good to find someone who has the same interests, isn’t it?
Another function that Facebook has is to become someone’s fan. This one is also pretty good. Because of Facebook, I get to know more about Roger Federer, the number one in tennis. From Facebook, we can see the message that he leaves so that we can know what he is doing recently or what his feeling is. It makes me feel that the distance between us is not so big anyomore.
For the small games part, instead of saying that those games are really interesting, I would say that those games give people the feeling of belonging. In our life, we keep finding where we belong to, like our family, one of the members of a school, a club, group, and so on. It makes us feel safe and makes us clearly know that we are somebody, not nobody. Also, playing a small game is a habit. For example, I will try to get up early to harvest my plants in the happy harvest in the morning. I don’t think that I am addicted to it. It is just a habit. Another kind of small game is metal tests. Of course, some of the results are accurate and it makes us to know ourselves better. Also, it is interesting to test have all kinds of questions, especially questions that I haven’t think of, like“What kind of stuff will happen to me in this month?” Although most of the result are just nonsense, it is fun.
Although we can communicate and have contact with others on the Facebook, which is very convenient, it makes me more aware of the importance of face-to-face interaction. Facebook is just a tool. It is not everything.

My observation on Facebook
There is an epidemic phenomenon exclusively these two years that we see people login Facebook, the soaring popular social-networking website, and play games or whatever function this website provides in workplace or in any places that have access to it. Nowadays, it is a must that you have your own Facebook account or you may be regarded as obsolete or even weird. And yet, how does this website has such influential impact on people? For what reasons that people were thoroughly conquered by this website and cannot live without it? My reasoning is as follows.
This website, on the one hand, includes all the functions people living in the twenty-first century demand—receiving entertainment, communication and photo storage space. Facebook includes a variety of short quizzes and intriguing games like Happy Farm, Animal Paradise, Happy Aquarium, etc., which furnishes the amusement as well as the relief from the stress. Also, on this particular website, users are capable of chatting or leaving messages to their friends around the globe. One special feature of the application is that you can search friends all over the world, no matter disconnected friends you met long time ago or just seconds before as long as you have got their names, you are able to reunite or regain your relationship simply through clicking a few buttons. You may even receive suggested mutual friends through the linkage among the network.
For me, just like its slogan indicates that “Facebook helps you connect and share with the people in your life,” this website is like a condensed electronic global village. In here, people connect to individuals around the world or interact with friends through games and other applications. People, in other words, get in touch with their friends, families, classmates, colleges, or any fellow associate within their own customized community. Why would anyone ever deny such conveniently designed services that simply require a few efforts? In addiction, the website renders the function of uploading unlimited photos, which is another reason for the dramatic proliferation. The present people have the craze to record everything happens in their lives through taking photos, and Facebook coincidently provide an off-the-rack platform for them to rest. Not only can users enjoy this handy function, they can also add tags and put comments on their friends' photos.
Within this abridged community, on the other hand, the sense of give and take—the reciprocal—is triggered. When you give something to your friend, you may be further given another one in return. To take the calendar application for an example, you can add your friends’ birthday to your calendar and vise versa or when you are given gift, the website will automatically suggest that you present a gift in return. The most convincing facts for the proliferation of Facebook lies in the fact that those functions mentioned above are all on a user-friendly basis that people won’t be bothered when operating. For this reason, Facebook can maintain those who have subscribed as well as draw those who have not subscribed that have been pitched by those subscribers.
With its fruitful enticing functions, Facebook successfully captivates the public. And in response to the dramatic proliferation of the Facebook phenomenon, chances are that the Facebook will begin to charge fees for users in the years to come. And some powerful Internet service provider like Yahoo will possibly acquire it like it does to other mushrooming website on the Internet .

My observation on Face book by 96540453 ALEX
After my observing the face book, I found it quite interesting. With the convenience of face book, I could log on to my friends blog spontaneously when ever I want, and meet new acquaintances and strangers by chance. Different age, social back ground, occupation or even gender can share the same platform without boundary. Furthermore, you could write your own perspective toward life or anything you feel jovial, unpleasant, or anything you would want to let off. You could find the love of your life or the most compatible friend you desire. Face book it’s like a medicine that you can get addicted easily, numerous of my friends couldn’t last a day without face book; it infiltrated your mind and your soul. Also, face book provides myriads of fun games. According to a news I saw recently, white-collar workers has been playing Happy farm(FACEBOOK GAMES) when they are still at work, therefore delays the process of their working hours. Another news is that, a men in china committed a larceny on stealing his neighbor’s vegetable, after the arrest he said he was too indulging to the game resulted to this crime. This phenomenon is definitely not what face book is meant for. Why face book has become the most popular personal blog on web? In my opinion, it’s because of it’s facilitation on centralizing all of your friends, or a friend of friend on web to become acquainted just by a simple click. You can be astonished and amused by how a stranger can have a mutual friend of yours and also get to know him/her through your own friend.
My Observation on Face book by Sunny 96540318
If you don't know how popular face book is, just walk in our library or wherever you can find computers, there would be people playing face book. I didn't have a face book account until professor asked us to have one. Before I applied for one, I heard many of my friends talking about it, the games, and the short quizzes on face book. I didn't want to have one before, for one was that I was afraid I would become a super fan and be addicted to it; for another reason was that I didn't like to follow the trend. To be honest, what I worried before did happen to me that I did become a super fan who log in everyday. But why FB becomes so popular in every generation? Face book is a platform which combines many functions together. You can take face book as Messenger to contact with your friends; you can take face book as blog for you to write down your thoughts; you can take it as virtual club for those who have same interests gather together; it is also an online game for you to play and interact with your friends. You can just log in and have Messenger, Wretch and online games all together in FB and do not have to switch to another one which I think is the most distinguishing feature of FB. FB combines the above functions together but with slight differences. Take writing down your thoughts for example, in Wretch, if one user wants to read another user’s blog, he or she needs to open another windows; in FB, if one user wants to read another user’s, he or she doesn’t have to open another windows. Here, I think the answer is clear. Its convenience makes FB so popular and suddenly becomes a heat in Taiwan. You can always find disadvantages following advantages, and FB is not the exception. The account is easily found by others and people sometimes just add others’ account without paying attention to who he or she is. This is somehow dangerous. All in all, I think everything has its advantages and disadvantages. If you use it in a right way, I think there will be no negative effects.
My observation on Facebook by Gladys 96540323
Nowadays, Internet becomes more and more convenient. No matter what kind of uses, most things can be done by using Internet. Moreover, people cannot have no Internet in their daily live.
Recently, there is a website which is famous and popular here in Taiwan. It is Facebook which is a worldwide website. People can add friends, send messages, and even post article on it. They also can update their personal profiles about themselves. There are many games such as Happy Harvest, City Restaurant, Country Story, and so on. Also, there are many psychological tests. I think that these games are the main elements for Facebook being so popular. They will make people be addicted. Like TV news reported lately, workers played games on Facebook during working time, and even some ones were fired. It is not good phenomena. Although there are pros and cons for using Facebook, I think that it is better if people understand how to use it appropriately.

The Facebook founders, I salute you!
While I was staying up so late trying to squeeze some more words from my brain to elaborate my paper and felt exhaustedly lonesome the other night, I happened to glance at the friend list of Facebook chatting room. Almost all my classmates were still hanging on line. I realized that I was not alone staying up in the rainy night that my classmates were working hard to survive the midterm week as well. I was relieved and somehow comforted by the sense of union and companionship among us. It was strange yet interesting that I did not talk to my friends or actually saw what they were doing at all but had myself convinced we were on the same team fighting against the overwhelming assignments.
I am not the kind of person who is very much up to date with all the internet communities and I usually find it troublesome to upload photos to my online album. For quite a while I did not bother myself to sign up my own Facebook account as a result even though almost all my friends (including teachers and relatives) kept asking me to join them on Facebook. Not until two months ago did I finally surrender such frequent persuasion and apply an account. However, to my surprise that Facebook offers much more functions than any other well known virtual network and I gradually become very handy with it. The notion of community and the sense of togetherness were the trigger to begin my Facebook experience.
However, I have to admit, the Interface of Facebook is very convenient and highly personal adjustable. Besides the combination of online album, chat room, blog, Facebook also enables the users to design and manage their personal space according to their needs and favor. You can find your acquaintances through either their names or e-mails. You can join various clubs or become fans of stars or celebrities and get updated with all their latest information. The most renowned and widely discussed function must be the games, namely the Fun Farm, Pet Society, and my favorite, Bejeweled and so on. You can invite your friends to play the game with you, exchange the virtual food you have, hire someone to work in your restaurant, or even challenge them and compare your scores with one another.
Who says we have to go out to hang out with friends? Everyone is “facebookable” that it only takes a few click and you are in the middle of the crowd. Worry not what to wear to the dinner with buddies, and forget about the anxiety and awkwardness when you try to catch up on them but simply leave massages on their Facebook wall. Even though we are in the time of technology explosion, and a lot of people believe it is technology that makes human beings emotionally detached to each other, the mighty network also ties us together. After all, technology is the demonstration of humanity. The Facebook founders, I salute you!

My Facebook Experience (96540343 Carol Lin)
Come to play the Farmville and Happy Farm! Come to open a restaurant! It’s those worlds that draw me into the hottest “Facebook” world. Unconsciously, started from the games, I have already used it for several months.
At first, I am quite unfamiliar with the format of the website. Many games are English version. It’s a much wider opened space than any other blog that I used to use. Since it’s used worldwide, we can make friends with other countries; we can find the long-lost friends; we can keep our friendships with the new and old friends. A theory called “Six Degrees of Separation” tells that if wanting to transfer one unknown package to a stranger, then it can easily achieved by six people. In the other worlds, you can meet a stranger through six friends. I think Facebook can prove this theory becauce the “searching friend tool” of Facebook makes people’s relationship much closer in the world.
Facebook not only has the function on building the relationship, but also an important platform for users to express their emotions or share some interesting ideas and useful information. User can put their photos or write something happened in their life, and then we can communicate and discuss about them. Besides, there are some interesting quizzes and psychological tests, which become the topics among friends. Due to those special design functions on the Facebook, everyone is the main character on their website; here, people can record their life and get to know more about themselves and others.
It has been a while since Facebook become popular. It seems Facebook never lose its hot; in addition, more people get into the field. As my observation, I find out the Facebook company update on their games frequently. By doing so, users feel fresh and won’t get rid of the habits in opening the game of farm and restaurant. Moreover, the sweat reminder of friends’ birthday and cute gifts are Facebook’s attractions. With those interaction designs, there’s no wonder Facebook stand as the most popular websites among the Internet World.

My observation on facebook by 96540304 Steven 四英三 楊崇教
Face book is a website that you can do so many things on it, such planting, chatting, cooking and psychological tests……etc. That is the reason why it so famous in the present time. I think it has both advantage and disadvantage. For advantage, I think it is really good for entertainment and sharing your feeling. About the planting, nowadays, people who live in developed and busy countries are very boring with this kind of life, so that they want to pursue a life that where is full of green plants and natural sights. Face book happy harvest is a good place for them to play and to live in. Growing any vegetables or any fruits, you can really enjoy a life of being farmer, you can keep your bets and you also can cultivate chickens and milk cows…and so on. On the other hand, through the face book, you don’t need to use cell phone at all because you can use this website to chat with your friends from everywhere just for free, you can invest different business and you also can run your own restaurant or salon. If you want to gamble, you also can play on it which will not cost you any money. A website contains everything what you want, it is so convenient and fun that you will be attracted by it, and so do I.
About the disadvantage, I have seen a lot of people who everyday spend more than three hours to play face book in game room, and after that, they will also play another net game. I mean that the kind of entertainments are really spending you a lot of time and cost your money. So, my suggestion is that you need to control yourself that don’t obsess with it too much. Otherwise , you will regret that you don’t study very well.

Facebook has become more and more popular in Taiwan. Now almost everyone has a facebook account. It creates a new phenomenon in Taiwan society; for example, workers are fired because of playing games in it during work time; teachers worry about children misunderstanding it’s nothing wrong to steal things in the games and reality.
Actually, facebook also creates a fresh scene at school; where are the computers, where are people playing facebook. I always can see students play facebok not only in the computer center in general building but also in self-learning center in the library.
I think there are two reasons why facebook is so popular:
1. We can play different kinds of games or psychological tests, which are very interesting. There are so many little games we can play. For example, we can have our pet or restaurant; everyday we can earn money to buy beautiful things decorating them. Playing different kinds of psychological tests is interesting; some of them can let us know us better while some of them are just funny to test.
2. We can make friends with strangers or get into contact with friends. We also can make friends with friends’ friends.
I use facebook everyday. The first thing I do after opening my computer is to open my facebook account checking whether people leave messages to me. I also play several games, such as Restaurant City, Pet Society, Country Story, and My Fishbowl. It’s fun to play those games, but I discover that I spent too much time on it. The consequence of spending too much time playing it is that I don’t have enough time to study. I can’t control myself stop taking care my restaurant, fish and pet. I still have to do so, or it will destroy my schoolwork.

My Observation of Facebook (96540322 Jasmine)
It is amazing that Facebook becomes so popular in Taiwan and all over the world in such a short time. I knew this new website, Facebook, from newspaper in this summer vacation; in order to figure out why so many stars using it, I joined Facebook. I have been using Facebook for four months, and I found out that using Facebook does connect people with friends and even strangers in an easier way.
First, you can add people to your friends list easily and quickly because Facebbok will provide you with a list of your possible acquaintance and all you have to do is click a button. It can save a lot of your time. What’s more; it is easy for everyone to make new friends on Facebook. Your new friends on Facebook could be all age and occupations and from all over the world. Take me for example, I do have some friends from other countries and I am so excited whenever we chat with each other in English. I learned some new words and expressions from our chatting, such as “lol”, which means lots of laugh. Also, I have some friends from other occupations such as lawyer and office ladies, and sometimes our talk makes me think differently and deeply toward some issue.
Second, there are many functions on Facebook; you can play games, take online psychology tests, chat with people, upload photos and write blog. Once you use one of these functions, Facebook will post the information on your wall and all your friends can see it. I found out that it makes people easier to have new talking topics. Moreover, everyone can leave a message on the post even you are actually a stranger, and it could be a start of being familiar with that person. For example, a person left a message on my post two months ago, so we started to chat with each other. Until now, I still consider this as an amazing experience. It really surprised me that he graduated from NTUT, and he is also from Changhua County. Besides, our homes in Changhua are actually near each other. Now we are friends who share things. Because we have something in common, I always feel friendly to chat with him.
Third, you can search your old friends such as elementary school classmates, junior high school classmates or friends you lost contact with. For example, I typed some names and in the end I did get contact with several my elementary school classmates. It makes me excited. Shorting speaking, I think that joining Facebook does make people contact with each other easier.

Facebook observation, by Michelle 96540451
As we all know, facebook is one of the giants in the social network arena, it helps people keep in touch all the time. With the click of a mouse, BING! You are there, and if you are lucky enough you can facebook your friend online, like a chat room, which is very convenient because you are not only keeping track of people’s life, but you are also following their latest updates on their walls. I think it was a few American guys who set up this social network at the very first, of course they didn’t know it could cause such a huge influence to most people’s everyday life. So was I, I’ve heard about facebook about two years ago, but it wasn't as popular as it is right now.
Before facebook, I think most people in the States used Friendster, and then MySpace. Catching up with this popularity, I did join the network years ago searching for a way to kill time. Now I switch to FB when I have time, I play games there, and I upload pictures too, it works more like a personal blog so that your friends can keep track of what’s happening to your life and so on, but you have to be willing to SHARE at first. I’d have to admit that its popularity indeed is swelling. I remember seeing a chart somewhere rating all the social networking websites out there, and Facebook broke into the top 20 most popular websites among millions of other websites in the market, which is amazing. However, what exactly drives this popularity around the globe anyway? I assume there wouldn’t be just one right answer, because people see things differently, but if we are speaking from a socializing aspect, then it is rational why this is so popular, other reasons might have to do with the services it provides, the user-friendliness, the content, the quality of design, you name it.
And as far as I know, Facebook is not only invented for the youths but is also attracting adults, I see moms and dads, even grandpas are updating their own pages, which is very cute, you know, it is just hard to believe that even the SENIORS are catching up with the trend!!

My observation on Facebook (By Jimmy 96540340)
Facebook is definitely one of the hot issues this year except the terrible typhoon Morakot and the horrifying flu H1N1. Actually, I hadn’t used Facebook until the Pop Culture class. Professor Vinia asked everyone to register a Facebook account to experience the recent blockbuster and observe the reason why it has been so popular all over the world. In my impression, I had received some e-mails about the invitation of joining Facebook during the first half of this year. At that time, I had no idea about what that is; I just regarded them as spams. During this summer vacation, I knew from the news that so many people here in Taiwan have been crazily in love with Facebook that the using rate has been amazingly promoted.
To me, I think the trend is always changing just like a breeze blows and disappears suddenly and quietly. Just like the former beloved Portuguese Custard Tarts, Mister/Dunkin Donuts, and Wretch weblog. Once the trend becomes common, it’s not fresh to people anymore. Take me for example; as a lazy bone like me who is even tired of updating his blog is definitely impossible to log in Facebook daily. I acknowledge that I was kind of addicted to it because of its games. Country Story, Happy Farm, My Fishbowl, and Restaurant City were my favorites. I think this is also the main reason why people in Taiwan appreciate FB so much. However, once more people dig their toes into the FB ocean, problems come out. Company supervisors begin to doubt that if their staff can still focus on working since they even use it secretly during the leisure time between tasks. Gradually, using FB is forbidden in the office.
My observation shows that there are some disadvantages of using Facebook. It’s true that using FB can kill time relaxing, and you can even recontact with your old classmates whom you haven’t seen for about 100 years; but it’s also embarrassing to me since both I and my old classmates just add each others’ accounts to be sources in the games. You can imagine how embarrassing it is that we steal each others’ plants or visit restaurants without chatting in reality.
No matter it’s advantageous or not, using Facebook ‘sometimes’ is really fun. The premise is—no addiction, please.

My observation on Facebook (Alan 96540306)
When it comes to Facebook, a question came to my mind: “Why is Facebook so popular among all-aged users?” I didn’t apply an account for Facebook, though my many friends told me to do so. I was just too busy to apply for it. All of my family members log on Facebook every day. They take care of their crops on the Happy Farm. They feed their fish in the Fish Bowl. The more games Facebook provides, the more time people spend on playing it. Children in my cram school play Facebook, too. They even talk their parents into logging on Facebook and feeding their fish during their work hours. There is one reason why Facebook is so popular around the world, especially in Taiwan. It is because of the people.
Taiwanese people like to share new things with their friends. In Taiwan, anything new will attract a lot of people because people will spread new information through the word-of-mouth. Like egg tart, 50-dollar pizza and Mister Donut, many businessmen followed the trend, imitated and ran similar stores. However, when the great mass fervor faded, those stores were shut down pretty soon. There were so many cases like these happened in Taiwan. Among these cases, there is only one survivor, that is, Mister Donut. Although there are no longer long waiting lines in front of the stores, some customers will buy doughnuts in Mister Donut regularly. That’s why they can still run their business.
In Facebook’s case, Facebook has too many competitors like Plurk, Wretch and Pixnet. They are actually all blog servers, but Facebook is different from them. Facebook works more like a big chat room. People can communicate with their friends immediately. Facebook provides variety of games in order to make direct interaction between the users. These are its advantages.
However, like those cases I mentioned before, little of them survived. As a totally observer, I believe that this trend will finally come to an end in the near future. Unless Facebook always updates with new things and new information for the users, or it will be less and less people want to use it.

My observation on Facebook by Amy 96540339
Nowadays, statistcs shows that more and more people prefer to log in Facebook rather than logging in Yahoo and Google when they turn on the computer. Facebook is the hottest website now. I started to play it since this summer vacation. Af first, the reason for me to use it was just because my friend asked me to. After I used it, I found it is really intersting.
It is said that Facebook has already become the most convenient way for people to look for their long lost firends. You can find many of your friends form Facebook. You can find your elementary school classmates, your foreign friends, even your neighbors on it. In fact, I had found my elementary school friends from it. Since we have been lost contact for a very long time, I felt so happy when I found her name on it. Besides, there is a news reported that Facebook helped a man to find back his father who he has never met before. He recognized his father by the photos and the name. There is another news talking about how magical Facebook is. There was a couple who used not to know each other. However, after registered on Facebook, they found that they have the same name and started to contact with each other. After a period of time, they got married and enjoy their marriage now.
There are many flash games and applications on Facebook. You can give your friend a hug, a flower, or a Teddy bear by it. In my opinion, these applications are warm. You can receive the blessings from your friends even though they are not by your side. What’s more , the flash games are really interesting. They can also stimualte the interaction between you and your friends. For example, you can hire your friends to be the workers in ‘Restaurant City’, which is one of the most popular games of Facebook. You can let them to be the chefs, the waiters, or the janitors. You can also change their clothes or even let them to wear hats or bunny ears.
After playing Facebook, I find my life become more and more interesting. When having free time, I can to log in it and start to interact with my friends. I would not feel bored anymore.

My observation on Facebook by Paula 96540334
At first, my friend invited me and wanted me to join it. I ignored her because I was too busy. When summer time came, I was boring and having nothing to do. I find a good and popular website-Facebook. It has lots of little games that you can play; and lots of tests that you can kill time. You will know friends’ friends or even strangers from different country on Facebook. Since the utility rate of using facebook has growing rapidly, people always chatting about ‘do you play facebook?’ ‘facebook is awesome!’…etc. The topic they chatted before might be ‘what did you write on Plurk?’ or ‘did you see some beauty girls or handsome guys on Wretch?’ Facebook totally catch the market for people all around the world; even my friend’s mother also has facebook.
Why facebook become so popular and successful? Founders set facebook for college students at first, so students can communicate with others and know more people. They succeed not for its function but they find right users. Facebook also has picture, blog, message board and you will know him/her more. They also protect users, your personal information won’t make public unless he/she become your friend. The games are easy to play, and they sometimes have specials for the games; for example, on Halloween, they will have limit background or decorations and dishes. It makes users feel novel and continue the game.
however don’t play facebook while you are working; there were three people got fired because they play facebook and caught by their boss. What a pathetic consequence! I feel crazy when I using facebook, I might use two or three hours a day to play it. I think I waste too much time on it. Facebook is a good open space for us, but we all have to control ourselves—not to use it over.

There is at least a novelty which is popular among people in different period of time. Recently, Facebook has been really popular in only a year. I always hear people ask others’ Facebook accounts and add them into their friend lists; in addition, they discuss Happy Farm or Restaurant City together all the time. From my observation, it becomes Facebook fever. If people don’t have a Facebook account, it means that they are out of fashion. What’s the most popular thing in 2009? The answer must be Facebook.
Taiwanese people are super crazy about Facebook. The amounts of Taiwanese users increase really fast. According to a static, the growth in Facebook user in Taiwan is the fastest in the world. There are about seven hundred thousand Taiwanese users in July, 2009. After two months past, there are more than two million and eight hundred thousand Taiwanese users registering Facebook. It is the four times the numbers of July. Twenty six point sixty nine percent growth rate is the world No.1. The users now are still increasing. However, for me, Facebook is a waste of time. I see my sister play games on Facebook all the time. She runs restaurants and cafes; in addition, she grows vegetables. She spends most of her time after work taking care of her business. I am really curious about why she can play it for such a long time, so I use my sister's account playing Restaurant City. I have to admit that the game is really interesting. Users can have common topic, and it makes people get involve to groups easily. It becomes a kind of socialization. Besides, the game can surely satisfy the people who want to have their own business. On the other hand, even though people are successful on running a restaurant or operate a farm, it is still different between games and reality. Also, once people start the game, they will never stop. They are always worrying about their restaurants and farms even though they are having class or working. It sometimes causes problems. Whether Facebook is good for people or bad for people becomes an issue.
Using Facebook not only can make friends from different countries but also can keep in touch with old friends. Besides, users can also have fun on Facebook. It brings users convenience, but it does cause problems. There is news mentioning that there are workers playing Happy Farm when they are working, and they are fired after they are found by their boss. Bill Gates never logs in his Facebook again after Facebook become more and more popular because there are too many people wanting to make friend with him. Also, American President, Obama, mentions something about Facebook issue when he delivers a speech. He says that don’t put too much personal information on Facebook or people might have trouble when they are interviewing new job. In my opinion, if users can prevent themselves from using too Facebook much, Facebook is surely a good way to connect with friends; also, meet more friends around the world.

I first read about Face Book on a friend’s blog which she writes that FB is full of fun games and tests. I was not interested at all. Running a blog and an album is troubling and time-wasting enough for me. More and more people around me caught up the trend and started to play FB; they came to me one after one asking why they have not seen me on the inviting list. I thought they were all boring and blind.
This summer, a friend studying in England came back on vacation and asked me out for a dinner date. We talked a lot about her life in England: what the bars and clubs there are like, how often they go to movies, who are the most popular singers in England, and how hot those English boys are. She asked me to write her my FB account so that she can introduce some of her hot friends to me. I told her I had not had one, and she did not believe in me.
She told me that everyone uses FB in her school. People stopped using MSN, Skype, Twitter, and their old blogs and albums. They even do not write emails anymore. Everyone chats with others, posts photos and articles, and sends information on FB. Anyone without a FB account is apart from the society.
I was curious, and I had doubts. I registered a FB account and started to explore the FB. Though I still spend much less time on my FB than all my other friends do, I now have a better understanding of its popularity. FB includes all different functions in one stage, making other programs unnecessary. It gathers all new information about your friends and hints you when there is any update. And the best part is that FB gives you the right to decide whom you want to share FB with.
Now I sometimes post messages on my FB and share my thoughts on others’. I am getting familiar with FB, and the fun I find in it is growing.

My Observation on Facebook by Julia 96540321
Facebook has been a hot issue in Taiwan recently. According to a news report, it is said that there are three million and seven hundred people playing the game “Happy Harvest” on Facebook, and there are three million and two hundred people of them comes from Taiwan. This amazing statistics shows that Taiwanese are following the fashion trend, Facebook fever.
I was one of the members playing the game “Happy Harvest” before. The first thing I did on Facebook was playing these games, and the process of planting the agriculture needs lots of time. It proves that all good things are worth waiting. Playing games really makes me unleash the pressure suffered from the daily life, and it just became one part of my schedule. I feel like I am a real farmer; taking care of the agriculture is my responsibility. In addition, most games on Facebook stimulate people to broaden the friend zone. With friends’ help, people could achieve the higher level in games. Hence, games on Facebook do not serve as a recreation activity only; it could build up the socialization as well. However, after a few weeks, I found it took too much time, considering other more important works; I never play any game on Facebook anymore. When the fever of playing games faded out, I started to figure out other functions on Facebook.
Leaving messages on friends’ wall is an interesting way to show my care, and I could receive their responses just below my message boxes. It is really a good interaction. On Facebook, I can send my friends some gifts as well. Although they are not real ones, they could represent my minds for a person. By using these simple and fast ways to interact with friends, it could make us closer even if we could not see each other so often. Also, it servers a way to share ideas and pictures with others, in that way, my friends could know what my life is going on.
However, its convenience also causes problems. People could trace back what you have done and what others have said to you since you started to use Facebook. Hence, the privacy is a big issue. There is another news, it is said that an American post his pictures which he is totally drunk on Facebook. His boss fires him because the bad behavior (drinking) will bring down the reputation of their company. It reminds us to reconsider what we should post on the Internet and what should not. We should think twice before the leap because sometimes one little mistake causes lots of regrets. Since Facebook is so popular, we should be more careful in choosing the information we release on it.

Why do people like Facebook?
Many people like to play on the Facebook. It is just like the fashion trend. If you don’t play facebook, you are not the one in the 21 century. To many people, Facebook is a platform for people to make friends, while for some people, Facebook is place which provide them with many playful games. Everyday, people discuss about what are the doing with Facebook.
The reason for me to play on Facebook is that most of my friends are playing. Yes, most of my friends. I can say some people plat on Facebook because of the same reason as me. It’s boring to play by oneself, but if you can play with your friends, it would be much different for people. Facebook provide us with many games or mental tests which would probably make people addict to it. Also, the internets make life more convenient. People would like to stay at home, playing the computer games instead of going outside with friends.
Facebook also provides a good way for people to keep in touch. You can contact your friends by Facebook. It also has a good function which reminds you that your friends’ birthdays are coming. Besides, you can understand your friends by the conclusion of the mental tests. Facebook not only gives us the place to relax ourselves, but also adds more interest in out life. It’s what I think people would be addicted to Facebook.

My observation on FACEBOOK by Annon 96540320
Facebook is so hot now!! It’s too hot to be ignored. Everyday, you can hear the word “facebook” pop up at your ears. You are probably familiar with the terms like Farmville, restaurant city and FB mind testing. Under such a circumstance, you have to admit that you are outdated if you really know nothing about it. to be honest, I was that outdated kind two months ago. Before, I did receive some invitations from my friends who had already used the FB but I ignored all of them. I thought FB was just like other common and boring social community websites that people registered on it in order to have affairs with others and nothing more. I thought it was just a whole waste of time to register for an account.
However, I changed my attitude toward FB after the first time I log in on it. The truth is that it not only allows us to make friends more easily world wide but provides easy entertainments right on the internet. No need to download and no need to install.
There several reasons for Facebook to go hot. First, its convenience is a major factor for people to love it so much. We don’t need to download any program to operate and the only thing we should do is to connect to the FB website then log in. We can keep in touch with our friends world wide within few seconds. So easy and so fast. Second, its multifunction feature is also attractive. There are too many things for us to do and to enjoy on FB. For example, mind testing is really a popular activity most people do on FB. The mind testing provides an easy method for people to satisfy their curiosity about themselves. The FB will give us an analyzed data just in few seconds. Despite of its accuracy, it is fun. After the mind testing, we can post the result to our FB front page to share it with our friend. In the same way, we can know the mind testing results of our friends if they have done some. Simply because of its the convenience, Facebook becomes a fever and a cultural phenomenon beyond boundaries.

My observations on face book by Bahyan 96540352
To be honest, I did not have face book account until our Popular Culture teacher asked us to open one. The reason why I did not have one was because I do not like websites which publish personal information of their every member from the entire world; to make a long story short, because I did not want to jump in to a swimming pool without knowing its depth.
Face book has already become a poplar culture among interment users around the world, and I think that is why our Popular Culture teacher asked us to have one.
Soon after I opened a face book account, many of my friends and I quickly connected to each other, including some of my great old friends with whom I did not have much contacts for years. It was a big surprise for us to find each other on face book, and we all think it is so great to have such a chance to reconnect, and to know each other’s news. We even exchanged our msn addresses and phone numbers; now almost every day we talk to each other.
Face book provides many functions such as: connecting with friends, posting blogs and comments, playing games, answering quizzes, sending and receiving electronic gifts… etc. Through all these functions, I, as a user, could unite with my friends and know their feelings by reading their wall pages, or by reading their comments on my wall page. I received many electronic gifts from my friends, and I sent them many as well, this is a way for expressing love and admiration for each other. I also played face book’s games alone or with friends to have some amusement. Just for fun, I took some quizzes, in which most of the times I do not believe.
As most of my classmates mentioned, almost everything has its advantages and disadvantages, and face book is not excluded. Therefore, for avoiding face book’s disadvantages, every time before logging in to face book, I remind myself of at least these three principals: first, do not make friends with someone until you are sure about the safety of doing so. Second, know what you want to share and what you do not want to share with others. Last but not least, try not to be addicted to face book by overusing it.

My observation on Facebook by Frank 96540314
Due to the progress of the technology, people can simply use a keyboard and a mouse to search the information they want. Because of the feature that containing fast, convenient, and simple quality, people start to craze about this kind of activity. Therefore, plenty of platforms rise on the horizon rapidly in order to conform to the demand. At the present day, Facebook is the hottest and the most popular system.
Why Facebook is so popular among employees, students and adults? Actually, I am not familiar with the function in the Facebook, but I think the reason why Facebook succeed is obvious and clear. The convenience is the most important factor since it is easy to contact with your friends both inside and outside your country. That is, you can interchange your opinions about one thing with your friends through the Internet and there is no limitation between country and country. Besides, Facebook has over sixty five language versions to make player feel easy to use. Moreover, people can leave a message on the information wall if their friend is not online and the system will remind the information receiver later by e-mail. Also, Facebook provides a lot of funny games and psychological tests in the system. After working for a long day, people can play games and do some psychological test to take a rest.
It seems that everything in the Facebook is good for users. However, there are some pros and cons indeed. Though, Facebook can easily find your friends and connect with them because of its great and powerful searching engine. But, when there is a person who wants get the permission about making friends with you, you even don’t know who he is. What can you do? If you permit the request, then your private information will be known by your friends and strangers. This is the biggest problem of Facebook.
Still, I think I love this platform at all. By using Facebook, I can easily build up my international network and get information from deferent types of culture. This really benefits me a lot. Also, I can use this platform when I have free time. But, users still need to understand that they should not addict to Facebook. Do what they should do is the best way to live their life instead of addicting on the Internet.

My Observation on Facebook by Angela, Hu 96540345
It is really amazing that Facebook becomes so popular among people all over the world! This Facebook fever come into Taiwan this summer and set a record of its quick growing number of Facebook users. Every time I log on my e-mail account, I see the message from Facebook that my friends invite me to use Facebook. It seems if we do not have a Facebook account, we are out of date. Facebook provides many functions for its users including album, games, chat room, mind test, etc. There are a lot of them for you to discover. People use Facebook for many different reasons. Some people use Facebook to stay in touch with friends aboard. Some even use Facebook to find their long lost friends. Still others use Facebook for sharing newest information with others. However, the majority of people use Facebook for playing little games and mind tests. According a recent news report, many workers are caught playing games on Facebook in their working places. The same case happened in our campus, too. One day when I walked into the computer area in our library, almost everyone there were farming on their Facebook! If baseball is American pastime, I believe that Facebook can be said to be our Taiwanese pastime!
I interviewed some of my friends who ever used Facebook and I found something interesting! One of my friends told me that he used Facebook to follow the newest, timely information of his favorite stars. By adding his favorite stars into his friend list, he could always visit them and see if there is something new about them. Another friend of mine told me that she uses Facebook for making friend with people who have the same interest and sharing their information with each other. Besides, my high school classmate even formed a club on Facebook for our high school classmates to stay in touch with each other. With this club, all of our classmates could have our class reunion everyday on Facebook!
Facebook serves to be a convenient tool for us to stay in touch with our old friends and make friends with others in order to build up our human network. However, to make friends with people on Facebook, you have to be very careful. There might be some bad guys on Facebook who want to cheat on girls deliberately. We should use Facebook more carefully! Here I want to provide some guidelines for people to remember when using Facebook. First, preserve your own privacy well and do not invade others’ privacy easily. Second, do not overuse the convenience of Facebook and do not let others overuse it, too. Hope doing so, we could prevent people from being a victim of overusing the convenience of Facebook.

My Observation on Facebook by Cindy 96540335
Facebook is one of the hottest issues in nowadays. You can find out that many friends around you are the fans of it, or so called” facebook addict.” As a follower of world tide, I’m no exception that has a facebook account.
Why facebook is so popular? I think it is because that it helps people find a way to get away from the boring world or to express the pressures. Facebook has a lot interesting functions. You can be a farmer in Happy Harvest or Farmland; you can raise pets at My Fishbowl or Pet Society; you can also fulfill your dream of opening a restaurant in Restaurant City with these fun functions, how can’t you an addict of facebook? In fact, despite those interesting gats, there’s also a function that many fans like it. You can steal things from your friends’ territories to steal others’ crops and treasures…. It’s very fun. In spite of little games, you can also connect with the old friends that you haven’t seen for a long time through facebook. What’s more, there’s a chatting room on every page of facebook website. You can chat with the friends online. Since I started using facebook, I can’t help but become a member of facebook addicts. I’ll log in facebook everyday to harvest or run my restaurant or do some psychological tests. Facebook did enrich my life and I did connect with my old friends. However, in my opinion, the friendship on facebook is easy come and easy go, it won’t last too long. Anyway, I still enjoy the fun life which facebook brings me.

My Observation on Facebook by Andy 96540346
Facebook is not a new word to me. I’ve already heard it and registered it in freshman year since there was only English version available. It was a foreign friend of mine asked me to register it, he said it was very popular in the State. But a few days after, I decided not to use it anymore, because it was not that popular here in Taiwan, which means, I found no one that can play Facebook with me except my foreign friend.
Now, two years after, I am junior. Facebook is the hottest thing here in Taiwan, it becomes such as an opening topic in almost everyone’s daily conversation, and log in Facebook seems to be a daily must-do action.
There are so many different blogs here in Taiwan, why Facebook rules this field? The following is my observation.
First, Facebook contains not only blog, album and instant messaging service. It is the first and only one which provides these popular services in one platform. There is one platform contains so many utilities you need, why bother to use so many different platforms to do the same thing.
Second, nowadays people like to after the trend. Maybe at first they registered it without any idea of what Facebook is about. They just want to be one part of this trend.

My Observation on Facebook by Sonia 96540338
In this modern society, people tend to get contact to each other through the world of Internet. We college students usually use online messengers such as MSN, Skype, or Yahoo Messenger; but recently we have suddenly crazed on Facebook, a multi-functional personal web space. In fact, not only college students, a lot of office workers, teachers, even housewives, use Facebook. But why so many people love to use Facebook? In my opinion, it is very easy to use. Once your friends start to use Facebook, they may also ask you to use. And because it only takes few minutes to fill in the register information, after getting first touch of Facebook, you may think that it’s kind and user-friendly. Another reason that Facebook is widely to be used is that it records every movement of your friends. For instance, your friend uploaded some new photos, it will appear in your ‘Home’ page, so that you can notice that and put comments about it. Besides, if your friend had a new level for the games provided by Facebook, or they just used some funny applications, if they published, then there will be a post in your ‘Home’ page tells you that your friend had reached a new level or what they had done. Furthermore, you can also post anything like photos, status, videos, etc. in your ‘Wall’ and comment on. I think it is really convenient and interactive in the Facebook world.
For some people, leave a message or comment on friends’ wall seems not so important, they rather to play games. In my own case, I play games, too; but I don’t really addict to it. Indeed, those games do have their attraction, people can send gifts or hugs, link to friends’ place to look around or steal something; or they can send invitation requests to those friends who haven’t play the game yet. Some people are easy to spend much time on taking care of their games; for example, plant more plants so that it can harvest more, and sell for more money. Or, go to friends’ yard to steal some, more experiences and harvest you get, more money you’ll get, and also upgrade to higher level. It gives joy and excitement, and people get self-fulfillment on playing these games. All of the Facebook games are designed very fancy and attractive; no wonder so many people totally put their minds on these games.
However, sometimes using Facebook is wasting of time. For myself, somehow I feel I shouldn’t have played the games because it does take too many time to do all we need to do to play the game. Even we just send request to other people, like, giving hearts, balloons, teddy bears, etc.; sending those request back also takes much time, especially when friends are more. Everyday we just log on Facebook and do same actions again and again. Although Facebook provide a good space for us to keep in touch with friends, but I think we shouldn’t abuse its considerate functions, and don’t waste too much times; then it can be used well and effective, brings convenience to people’s life.

My Observation on Facebook by Eva 95540460
It is an undeniable fact that accompany with the fast, convenient internet, everyone can get all kinds of information they want within few seconds simply by typing key words and clicking the mouse. Therefore, variety of websites and internet services proliferate in a considerable quantity in recent years. Among all the platforms existing, Facebook is one of the most common and popular means of interacting resources. It is a multi-functional internet platform which combines games, blog, photo uploading and storage, interesting psychological tests, reminder service, messenger service, and all other kinds of resources for connecting people together. But, why it seems to be the most promising tool that everyone must have? And what are the problems it can bring? Hence, in the following paragraphs I’d like to discuss about Facebook’s advantages and disadvantages.
Speaking of Facebook’s advantages, the first thing pop out must be its powerful, strong friends searching engine and network services. By using Facebook, you can easily build up your own interpersonal relationship network. When you first register on the Facebook, the system will check the name list of your registration e-mail, and find out all the possible friends using this application as well. And besides adding your own friends, you can also add other friends from your friends’ friend list so that your interpersonal network will grow bigger and broader. Also, you can find your old, disconnecting friends on this awesome searching engine just by typing the friend’s name or any other related data. Like myself, I use this application to find my elementary and junior high school classmates who I haven’t seen since the graduation, and one of my disconnecting classmates post a shocking news that she is going to get marry on the December this year just few days after I found her account on the Facebook.
Besides the excellent friends searching service, another great service it offers is the photo tagging service. When uploading photos, you can not only write the description but also tag your friends’ names that appear in that photo. By doing so, not only all your friends can see the photo with the names of the people in the picture, but your friends who appear in the picture will also receive a message saying” there is a photo of you being post on XXX’s post”, so your friend can click the link and see that specific picture with his/ her image on. This function can let people find their photo easier and let them browse other pictures faster as well. What’s more, it can provide topics for you and your friends to talk about. Since it contains so many functions such as various games playing, video sharing, picture browsing, and latest personal status updating, people can easily follow your life and feelings. For example, you can talk about how many vegetable you stole from others today or what result you got from the psychological tests and etc.. Therefore, it is really a good way to catch up with all your friends by just browsing through the Facebook news feed, and you will feel like you are so close to all of them even if you are actually far apart.
However, just like there are two sides of a coin, behind something wonderful, there must be some flaws come with. To Facebook, the biggest problem it has is the issue of privacy. Since Facebook provides such a wonderful and powerful platform for people to make friends, it is really hard to set the limit. You can never be sure that your personal files won’t be disclosed. Despite that fact that Facebook does offer the lucking function that you can choose the people you want to share the photos or data with, it is still not a one hundred percent guarantee. Take myself as an example, I always luck my photos and only share them with whom I have filtrated; however, someone without my permission still see the photos. It is because my friend posts the photo on the wall or makes a comment on that photo, so it appears in her wall, and then that person can see the picture from my friend’s wall. Another problem rise my concern is the problem of addiction. So many people spend more time playing games or tests provided by Facebook or surfing around in Facebook than their daily routine. And it seems like these problems will never end, rather, it will become more serious if people do not pay attention on this issue.
All in all, although it has some flaws, I still have to admit that I like to use this application a lot, and I really do believe this platform is a very nice and convenient one to reach out to the world and build up your friend network. However, we must keep in mind that this tool is developed to help us not to put us in danger or addict to it.

My observation of Facebook by 96540342 Grace
To be honest,I have never heard of Facebook before this July. And I didn't notice that this website will become so popular one day.I happed to become one of its members this summer vacation. It was really interesting at first, because everything seemed to be new and unknown for me. I tried to find a way to follow others to use the website and I really believed that maybe I could make some foreign friends there. I did meet some though. However, that was the time which made me feel uncomfortable. We all know that people from different places means different culture conflict. It didn't mean that I don't like to make foreign friends, but actually I thought some of them were just rude to others. For example, I have met many pervs out there, and I didn't know their purposes at beginning. Usually I had to find that while they started to say something ditry. It really sicked me. I went there were not for sex,yet many pervs kept bothering me. This kind of experience made me not like Facebook very much. When I see many people are crazy about those games on the website, I just have no idea why they love there so much. I am not a fan of internet games, but I think I should give myself another chance to get along with Facebook. Maybe I will love it someday!

My observation on Facebook (96540347 Lisa)
Recently, I can hear most people in our class discuss the website Facebook very often. They complain their vegetables were stolen last night. I could not understand what they were talking about. Are they farmers? Why are they so interested in that? I can’t help thinking why the website is so popular. Is there something special? Because after turning on the computer, my sisters or friends’ first step is to click the website on the top of “My Favorite.” Whenever you see they use their computers, their screens are always on the Facebook. So I surf the Internet and get some information about this burst of whirlwind.
Facebook is a society network website. There are so many different application programs on it. You can play many games on that website, like the psychological tests, Fish Tank, Pet Society, Restaurant City, and so on. Taking the psychological tests, you not only can take by yourself, but also you can invite your friends to take it. And the most popular game “Happy Farm” is one of the application programs. In addition to run a farm, you can also go to your friends’ farms and “help them crop”, that is, you stole their vegetables! It will make your friends crazy. But anyway, this is fun, isn’t it? It is a good way to progress your relationship between you and your friends. By the way, you can meet so many different races people through Facebook. It’s no boundary; it’s far-reaching. Also, you can find your friends by typing some key words. Wow, I can’t believe it. It is so amazing. Facebook makes the world smaller. You can know people around the world.

My observation on facebook 96540327Daisy
Before using facebook, I thought it is just a blog like wretch blog which people write down their daily schedules or share pictures. However, after using it for three months, I find facebook contains several functions which include advantage and disadvantage.
First of all, people can communicate with friends through facebook. Those friends include people you contact in your daily life, new friends you meet through facebook, and old friends who have never touched for several years. Because facebook has a special function searching people who you are familiar with, you are always surprise to meet those old or new friends. People can chat with their friends to share their happiness and sadness, people can contact with old friends to call back their memories, and people can meet new friends to broaden their horizon. While, there is disadvantage to make friends through facebook. Because you won’t have basic understanding of new friends, you won’t know whether they will download your private information including your pictures and personal information. What’s more, some people may contact you in order to catch some information of your friends, and cause your friends involve in danger. For instance, once there is one guy makes friend with me, he always asks some questions like when you have class, or where you will go after school. After few days, my friend tells me her annoying ex-boyfriend tries to contact her and even bothers her life. Then, I find out that my new friend is her ex-boyfriend! I’m so scared and delete the contact with him. This horrible experience tells us that we should be aware of those people on internet, and make sure who they are.
Second, there are some games to play on the facebook. Facebook isn’t like the usual blogs posting diary only, people can have fun there, enjoy opening store, and interact with your friends. The happy farm can be illustrated. People can enjoy farming, they should take care of their plants from seed to fruits, and prevent them from your friends stealing. You can enjoy online games to experience things you never contact, you will have more topics to talk with your friends, and you can while away your boring time. However, once people are addicted to those games, it’s hard to call back their mind. Those addicting people will play games all day long, and wasting time there. For instance, one of my friends plays one game called mahjong on facebook. He is so addicted to playing the game that he always gets black eyes. It not only spoils his health, but also influences his daily life.
Facebook is an useful software for people to contact friends and have fun there. However, people should understand how to protect themselves, and not to interfere in other’s life. Facebook is a high-technological product for people to do things convenient, not causal. People should be responsible for their deed, and use facebook appropriately.

My observation on facebook (96540341 Ella)
Facebook is a very poplar website around the world. For some people it even become a everyday routine to log on facebook to see what’s going on to their friends and how’s the game he is playing there. Recently we can see much news about facebook. For example, people are reported to work in working time and even some argument from the player for being tricked.
I think this is a very good website for people to communicate with each other. You can keep an eye on what your friends are doing now. You can have many interactions with your friends like opening a restaurant and sharing some little gifts with your friend. There is a even better thing, you may have a chance to find out friends who has not been contact with you for a long time.
I think facebook is popular not only because of the communication function but also those games online. I think they serve people as a place of dream come true. There are things people want to do but cannot do in the reality, so they get satisfaction through the process of the game. Also, you don’t have to take the responsibility of like raising animals, and farming.
Everything has its good side and bad side. Even though facebook serves as a plat of communicate with fiends and realize one’s dream, it is never proper for it to affect what you really should do in the reality. In other words, it is best not to go too deep to it. There is news saying that people play happy farm during the time of working. It is ok to play it as an entertainment but not interfere with your daily life. You still have go out of the computer world to face the reality.

Observation about Facebook (93540313 Tina)
It is very common that almost everyone uses several social networking websites such as blog, twitter, plurk, and windows live (MSN). Now the most popular here in Taiwan is “Facebook.” The number of its users is over five million in Taiwan by early November this year, and its users in the world are over 300 million.
You may wonder that why Facebook is so popular. One of the reasons is that Facebook is not only a social networking website, but also a social utility website that users are not appear with virtual identities but their real world identities. By their names, e-mail addresses and names of school or company, users can easily find their friends, schoolmates, colleagues, and even friends having lost touch with for a long time. In addition, Facebook itself plays multiple roles as blog, album, chat room, forum, messenger, and even application with online games. It makes messages flow faster and faster, and have people become connected and much closer.
Users participate in clubs and make new friends on Facebook. Some games and activities become popular because of Facebook. Through its easy and interesting games and funny short quizzes, people share common topics among their friends and somehow those games have users make new friends and even make friends from friends all over the world. Facebook makes its users connect to the whole world.
Although Facebook is such a popular, convenient, and multiple website, people have to notice that the games provided by Facebook easily make people addicted and conditioned. When enjoying its multiple functions, conveniences, and entertainment, remember that don’t soak yourself too much into it!

Observation toward Facebook 95540333 Katie-Claire
As a so-called SNS(Social Network Site), Facebook does allow people to interact face to face.
On your wall, you create your status. It may be your present feelings, some parts of your life experience, complaints, or just nonesense.Few minutes later, you receive comments or likes from your friends. They directly and immediately respond to your status, even, they click "like" for agreement. Moreover, you share your photos, fonding music videos to your friends. Everyone can easily share whatever they like with their friends on this platform.
Sharing and responding immediately without limitations such as "somebody may not visit your blog or space everyday" is the main reason why facebook is so popular around the world. Once you log in your facebook, you will right away see your friends status and posts and make comments or "likes" immediately. People can also make connection with lost-contacts by typing their names on search bar and add them into your contact lists. One of my cousin's senior high school classmates got into contact again by facebook. Facebook is just like a forum for a group of people to discuss on one issue. Anyone who is not in your friend list are not able to get the access into your discussing issues and topics. Privacy protection is also the reason why people love "hang out" with their friends on facebook.
Moreover, abundant applicants (games) attract facebook clients as well. You can be a farmer, taking care of your crops, help your neighbors to eliminate weeds and worms, and even loot their crops when harvest. Fun occurs when you find you're being caught by neighbor's dogs when looting or when you succeed in looting their "expensive" and "large amount of" crops. Interactions are created under this circumstance. You can also keep a "virtual pet" and help it by buying accessories and decorate its home and gardens. You can also exchange with your friends.
In short, the popularity of facebook lies on its convenience, fun, promptness to respond and easy-to-use. In the age of Web 2.0~3.0, Internet no doubt plays a role in people's daily life but also weaken our interaction with people around you. Facebook makes it up, successfully.

My observation on Facebook (96540333 Jennifer)
Years ago, I’ve been invited by a foreign friend to join Facebook, while I was addicted to msn. Therefore, I put Facebook aside for long. No matter I like Facebook or not at that time, it’s now growing fast in Taiwan. Never had I imagined that I would go on Facebook several times a week for the application: Mahjong today.
Personally, I think Facebook is totally cool. I love it recently. You know why, it’s superb convenient in interacting with my friends. Its amazing innovation in attracting everyone succeeds worldwide. However, its success arouses a question to me: how could it be so popular?
First, it’s unnecessary to spend a long period to develop your role in games which means you, maybe feeling almost no regret, can drop the game whenever you like. On the other hand, those games are intriguing indeed.
Second, your status and recent activities will be updated. Hence, friends will sometimes see a lot of things about you which is a way to cultivate your friendship. Is it difficult to maintain your friendship with friends you like? No, with the applications on Facebook, it’s not hard to maintain your friendship at all.
Third, it spread as “F” virus; anyone who is infected will usually infect the next friend. Facebook creates a chain that enrolls you and your friends. Seeing your friends all infected by “F” virus, will you not use it? For me, perhaps I’ll also follow the trend.
Not exaggeratedly, I even had to added “Facebook” into my Office Word in order to make Microsoft recognize this newly hit in Taiwan. So powerful a software producer as Microsoft has to yield to this new hit. In reality, Microsoft would invest $240 million for a 1.6 percent stake in Facebook. Who can resist this Facebook trend? I’m afraid few can say no to this interesting phenomenon.
Unlike others, I played Mahjong a lot these days. What’s more, I even found my friends whom I seldom chat with played the Mahjong more often than me. Probably I could talk to her about Mahjong so that our friendship would grow faster than ever. You see, a seemingly harmless application connects me and a distant friend. In this process, the application on Facebook contributes most. Shall I thank Facebook? Maybe. Is Facebook really no harm? I doubt it.
How realistic our friendship is? Don’t I worry about its drawbacks? Will the side effect hurt me some day? let’s see another example here.
One of my friends spends her whole summer vacation on psychological tests, Mahjong, Happy Farm, etc. (those are all popular applications on Facebook!). Spending two months on those relaxing games sound charming, but she sets up her mind to abandon all she had gained at the beginning of this semester. Why is it? She regrets for the precious two months she had wasted.
Will I do something regret as what she has done due to the application, Mahjong? Probably not. Because of her demonstration, I believe that I would think twice before I devote my time to a particular application.

My observation about facebook 96540326 Ronne
Nowadays, facebook seems become a trend among people around the world. Meanwhile, it’s a global unity which connected people from different countries. Moreover, I find that not only teenagers but also adults participate in this association. I think facebook is popular based on its community, entertainment, and communication. Facebook provides more and more communities for each member of the association. Once joining these communities, everyone can play games which these clubs provide with friends all over the world. For example, the Farm-game and the Happy Fishbowl are common clubs. Likewise, we can send kinds of presents to our friends any time and share mental tests.
In addition, these games provide us not only a tool for kill time but also a way to make a connection with friends. We can steal friends’ gems when visiting their fishbowls or farms. Now, whenever we meet someone, we may ask him or her a question,” do you pick up your gems or harvest your crops?” Little by little, it becomes a common issue in our daily lives. On the other hand, we can get the update from friends. In facebook, we can put photos, the states, and many links. Through the state-update, it’s an easy way to get information from friends when we are busy. For example, when I browse other’s facebooks, I can know what their moods or what happen recently through their state-updates and I can leave a message. When they see these messages from others, they are happy. No matter joining the clubs or browsing others facebooks, I think facebook promote the relationships among people.

My observation about facebook (96540337 Amanda)
Now, facebook is prevalent among people all over the world. My first time to log on facebook is because its famous game, happy farmer. I saw my younger brother was playing happy farmer in summer vacation, so I registered my account.
When I entered my personal information, I saw many senior high school classmates, junior high school classmates, and even elementary school classmates. I felt surprised and astonished. Facebook is a social network for us to find friends who we haven't seen for a long time and for us to keep in touch with them. I think this is the reason why people are so crazy about facebook.
Facebook provides many games for us to kill time, such as happy farmer, restaurant city, animal paradise, country story, and so on. Not only students like me are crazy about facebook, but also office workers are crazy about facebook. In China, some employees are fired just because they play facebook within working hours. I also heard a piece of news that one couple broke up because the man didn't help her girlfriend steal crops from her friends. It's funny, isn't it?
In my opinion, facebook is really a big success around the world. Owing to facebook, I have a connect with my old friends. I can even chat with them on facebook. Facebook really helps me a lot no wonder thousands of people are carzy about it.

Facebook is a great social network that college students are using it. For me by using face book, I can stay in touch with old friends that I like and new one as well. They can see my photos, they can offer me a present, and they can write me something. And it is easy to put your photo there. Face book make life smaller than it is; you can stay in touch with friends in different parts of the world. And it is just like to feel you all are always together wherever you are. I am happy, that I and some of my old-lost good friends found each other on face book.
I think facebook is not just about keeping in touch with your friends but also it can help you to understand different culture by sharing our photos, our country’s music, and our language. Also facebook has games and applications which are very fun. And there are so many useful groups that people can join especially student, students can join those group who are studying in the same major, they can ask each other about what they learn from their university also help each for more understanding each others courses. Facebook makes it easier to join those groups have the same like and dislike. I think above all of these things is that, there are so many quizzes about your life and yourself, which is you can learn a lot vocabulary from if you are using English version and having fun with it as well. Although it has so many advantages but it still have disadvantages as well. For me I think it is a little bit addictive, because some times I spend a lot of time by playing and doing quizzes. It is waist of time and bad for our health in so many ways. Why until now I had been only accepting friend requests from people that I knew them before. But what about people who would like to become my friend? sometimes I feel guilty that I don’t accept there request, but I think it is use by so many people and it is overcrowded which is some times we have to be more careful by accepting the requests, because people who you don’t know may write down something on your wall, and make a trouble for you.

Facebooking non-stop.
After tiring working, I always go back home and start facebooking. This platform is booming, undoubtedly. It combines with diverse applications, such as blog, photo sharing, games, mental texts, and so on. Its easy and simple way of using appeals a lot. Immediate updating makes a buzz in everyone's account, which would create a lot of fun, indeed. I write new articals, and on the other hand, I am fishing and farming. It's like living in the Net world. No wonder many people waste their time in the Net pond.
Somehow, it's beneficial, which means it's easy to share with friends about your current status. Moreover, I view it as a time-killer. This killer acts as a dual blades.
It would be harmful when someone deeply sinks into the facebook. Any kinds of Net activity turns out bad when people overdose it. Trying to control my facebooking time is a recently task.
Do you have a facebook account, if no. Try to start it right away. Enjoy it and be cautious.

My observation about Facebook 96540317 Jocelyn Chen
Facebook is a very popular social website nowadays. People all over the world are crazy about it. They spend a lot of time on it. If your friends ask you to play Face book with them, it’s hard for you to refuse them. Being involved in a group makes us feel the sense of existence. There are some reasons why the users of Facebook have increased rapidly.
It helps us to get contact with our old friends. Most of us have the experience that we really miss someone, but we don’t have the ways to contact with them. By using face book, we can search our old friends and keep in touch with them again. There are many interactive games on facebook. For example, happy farm, restaurant city, etc. Through these games, you can improve your relationship with your friends. Some of my friends are interested in planting farm produces and stealing other people’s produces. It’s really fun to have the opportunity to experience the farmer's life on the internet. Through Facebook, we can also meet some new friends; it really helps us to broaden our horizon by communicating with different kinds of people . Yet, it could be dangerous, too. So, we should be very careful when meeting new friends on facebook.
We all know that everything has it's pros nd cons. If we spend too much time on Facebook . We won’t have enough time to complete our assignments. I watched the TV news that some of the schools and offices forbid their students and workers using faceook. Although Facebook is a really fun social website, we should strike a balance between it and our work.

A Window to the World: My Facebook Experience -by Alexa-96540348- 2009.11.07
On Facebook, I reached out to the world to re-connect with many of my friends. Also, through this website, I make a lot of new friends almost everyday.
To tell the truth, this is a big website; on the other hand, it is very complicated because almost all the people around the world use this website. You can ask any people in Taiwan or foreigners, they must know this new sweetheart.
If you are the one who just play the game one the website, then, it may be safer. But, if you are the one who apply for the ID just because you want to make friends online, you have to be careful. Although in this open society, it is not a big deal to make friends through the website, it still has some dangers.
Therefore, some people don’t post words on the blogs and even the photos. And, in this website, if somebody wants to make friend with you, you can check out his/her profile, and also you can see whether there are same friends between you and him/her.
Now, you can watch the TV and see the NEWS about Facebook itself-everything, especially for the “Happy Farm.” To steal other people’s vegetables or fruits online become a big problem in our society. I think it is very ridiculous to have this kind of NEWS on TV. Even it becomes a problem between husband and wife! Because the wife takes care her farm at midnight and steal others crops, then she is too happy to scream and shocks her husband. Her husband thinks that it is too ridiculous and expels her out of home. Then the police come to help and say that the wife can’t play at midnight and steal other’s crop anymore.
However, this website can’t be surf in China, but it can be surf in all the other countries. Why? That’s just because China has a very strict law for the Internet.
Although this website is not quite stable while surfing on the Internet, it still loved by many people no matter children or adults.

My observation about Facebook (96540305 Cherry )
Nowadays, Facebook becomes a popular culture in the world. Everyone use it to communicate with friends and to make friends in the world. Even more, everybody can kill time by using games of facebook. It is interesting that we can trade friends resent conditions and movements. Therefore, we can realize friends if we have no time to keep in touch our old friends. That is Facebook’s advantage to us. That‘s why Facebook has become one of the popular trends in Taiwan. In fact, I more realized what the Facebook is in this summer vacation because I had no experience in Facebook before. And I cannot use it to kill time by playing the games in Facebook. I have to how to use Facebook and its content in order to follow my friends step and their conditions.
With internet, the distance became short in the world. But, with Facebook now, the world become smaller than before. That is amazing and wonderful for people in the world. With Facebook, teacher can show their excellent work and present homework to student, which is convenience and interesting. On the other hand, we can put pictures, papers, and diaries in the Facebook where can record our memories. With this advantage, our friends can more realize our lives. In the popular culture class, I can have more efficiency to follow class schedules every week. And I can memory our performances in teacher’s class after we graduation.

My Observation about Facebook by Quinney Chen 96540312
Facebook is so popular all over the world. It is a global social networking website, and it refers to a wide range of web-based programs, services and tools. However, unlike the people who play Facebook for sociality in other countries, most of Taiwanese play Facebook just becuase of its games. So many people are crazy about using Facebook, and so do I. I started to play Facebook during my summer vacation this year. Well, I am addicted to it because there are lots of things which are fun to do. It is a great time waster.
I love Facebook because it is such an excellent platform not only to make friends but also to relax. It has e-mail, albums, chat room, games, and so on. Sometime I chat with my friends, or browse their albums. However, most of time I spend on Facebook is to play the games, Happy Farm and Restaurant City. “Stealing” others’ vegetables or fruits is so fun. On the other hand, when my restaurant is getting larger and well-decorated, I have sense of achievement. Almost all my friends use Facebook. It has become a good topic to chat with my friends in my daily life.
Nevertheless, there is one thing I do not really like. There is almost no privacy because all my friends I added will see some messages which I just want to share with few of my friends. Will Facebook just be a fad? There is no correct answer. Why not just register Facebook, and enjoy it? Do not hesitate, just add me as your friend!!

My Observation about Facebook (96540313 Joy Chuang)
Recently, Facebook, the popular social networking site, has really created a buzz here in Taiwan. It’s no doubt to say it has become a fashionable topic among college students.
“The world is becoming smaller.” It says that due to our advanced technology, people are getting closer by using the Internet. There have been lots of networking sites which enable people to share and make the world more open and connected; Facebook is also a successful one. Here are some observations about it.
To its advantages, it makes people to communicate with each other worldwide. Having used it for half year, I have met not only my old friends who I didn’t keep in touch for a long time but also made some new ones. Facebook will show some friends who also have same friends with ours; this makes us able to add them into our friends list easily and keep in touch with them. Furthermore, it will always inform your friends what you do; in other words, you will also know what your friends do by being informed. This really makes me feel that we’re always together whenever we go. Moreover, it provides a space for people to upload their videos and photos; some people may use Facebook to check the daily news. The most interesting part might not be those games on Facebook; most of my friends play games. In these games, they compete with each other; they can also know how many grades, scores, and levels of their friends or how much money in the games they own. I think this is the part which attracts college students most; these games have also become part of their entertainment.
To its disadvantage, since it has been on the internet, everything may be in danger. People reveal their birthdates, residences, preferences, dating status, and even phone numbers. These expose us to an unknown world which may bring lots of problems. Everything on it might be unreliable. For example, you will probably be lied by people you don’t’ know because we can’t see, touch or even truly contact in real lives. The other problem will be addiction. This can be seen from the TV news; it reports that workers played games on Facebook during the working time, this caused them got fired! Moreover, as it’s getting popular among college students, it also gains great popularity of secondary schools’ students. Children start to spent time on Facebook, especially on games; it is absolutely not a good phenomena.
All in all, Facebook is a good tool when we make good uses of it; however, it would cause problems when we’re not well aware.

Without a doubt, now Facebook is the world’s most popular social networking site. There are exceptionally more users of Facebook in Taiwan comparing to others countries’ users. Let me tell you some surprising statistics. Taiwan has seen an excetional 300 percent increase in Facebook users since July. It makes Taiwan the fastest growing country in usage of the social networking site in the world. The number of Taiwan users grew from 700 thousand in mid-July to 2.8 million in September. In the last 7 days, over 600 thousand new Taiwan users subscribed to Facebook. Isn’t that astonishing?! Playing Facebook is almost every Taiwanese’s entertainment.
In fact, I am a big fan of Facebook, too. I login almost everyday to see my friends’ latest actions and statuses. In this way, I can keep in well touch with lots of my friends simply use the clips of mouse. Lots of my elementry school friends, junior high school friends who haven’t kept in touch with me after graduating ceremony can stay in touch with me. I can search their E-mail accounts by means of the search engine offered by Facebook. As long as I set some search conditions such as the name of my school and the year I graduated from, I can easily find them. This is the power and magic of Facebook.
Thanks to Facebook, I connect myself to the world as well as my frineds simply stay at home using clips of mouse.

Nowadays, Facebook has become one of the popular trends in Taiwan. For many people, the first thing to do when they turn on the computers is to surf on the internet, connecting to the Facebook website, checking if there are something new there. Once they open the Facebook website, it must cost a lot of struggle to come back to the reality because there are countless interesting things on Facebook. Not only you can run a farm, raise many kinds of pets, play mahjong and card games, but you can join your idol’s Facebook website and leave the comment and message. No wonder some people would rather take the adventure to surf on the Facebook on working time.
Although Facebook has founded since 2004, most people in Taiwan knew this website until 2009 because some Chinese version games started to show up. One of the sprit of Facebook is let you find your old friends you have lost for many years. You can type his or her name to search or check your friends list if there are common friends you might know. Through the friends list, you also can meet many kinds of friends who speak different languages in the world. It is interesting to post message or feeling on personal wall because your friends can give you the comment back and improve the friendship if you have no time to talk in reality. What’s more, you can dress what your pets wear, clean the house, take pictures, and post the pictures on your personal wall. Thus, through these games, you can release the pressure in reality.
No matter how abundant content of Facebook attracted people, there are still some people started to refuse to surf on it. First, your privacy might be exposed on Facebook which you don’t want some people to know. Second, the Facebook website has been intruded many times by hikers and leave the virus, and it also cause the MSN to get the virus. The worst is the Facebook website builders hasn’t think of any effective ways to solve the problem or any warns to remind users these virus. I think if the Facebook want to run the website well and always attract people to join, they need to face the problems which are responded by users.

As to me, using Facebook is one of entertainment I had in my daily life today. I contact with my old friends when I start playing Facebook, and I make new friends there. There was a special experience once I played game on Facebook. On that day, I was bored and was surfing some fun on website, suddenly I saw a stranger appeared in the windows (my game). I was surprised and then clicked on him, trying to figure out who he is. After clicking on him, there was a list showing what I can do. I glanced the list and chose one of selection. I asked him to play Ti Ta To. He agreed. We played with Ti Ta To for more than 10-15 mins. But eventually we still did not know each other, and then said goodbye because I had to go shopping with my friends.
It was a special experience, right? Maybe we still can use another website to contact with others; somehow, it is a simply way put in front of us, why we not to face it! Some people would say, there still some disadvantages by using Facebook , like our privacy might reveal and stand in danger, but … do not limit “you” into a specific area. We have to broaden our lives, and using Facebook is a channel for us to broaden our lives. If not so, why we have Internet in our big world!
