There is at least a novelty which is popular among people in different period of time. Recently, Facebook has been really popular in only a year. I always hear people ask others’ Facebook accounts and add them into their friend lists; in addition, they discuss Happy Farm or Restaurant City together all the time. From my observation, it becomes Facebook fever. If people don’t have a Facebook account, it means that they are out of fashion. What’s the most popular thing in 2009? The answer must be Facebook.
Taiwanese people are super crazy about Facebook. The amounts of Taiwanese users increase really fast. According to a static, the growth in Facebook user in Taiwan is the fastest in the world. There are about seven hundred thousand Taiwanese users in July, 2009. After two months past, there are more than two million and eight hundred thousand Taiwanese users registering Facebook. It is the four times the numbers of July. Twenty six point sixty nine percent growth rate is the world No.1. The users now are still increasing. However, for me, Facebook is a waste of time. I see my sister play games on Facebook all the time. She runs restaurants and cafes; in addition, she grows vegetables. She spends most of her time after work taking care of her business. I am really curious about why she can play it for such a long time, so I use my sister's account playing Restaurant City. I have to admit that the game is really interesting. Users can have common topic, and it makes people get involve to groups easily. It becomes a kind of socialization. Besides, the game can surely satisfy the people who want to have their own business. On the other hand, even though people are successful on running a restaurant or operate a farm, it is still different between games and reality. Also, once people start the game, they will never stop. They are always worrying about their restaurants and farms even though they are having class or working. It sometimes causes problems. Whether Facebook is good for people or bad for people becomes an issue.
Using Facebook not only can make friends from different countries but also can keep in touch with old friends. Besides, users can also have fun on Facebook. It brings users convenience, but it does cause problems. There is news mentioning that there are workers playing Happy Farm when they are working, and they are fired after they are found by their boss. Bill Gates never logs in his Facebook again after Facebook become more and more popular because there are too many people wanting to make friend with him. Also, American President, Obama, mentions something about Facebook issue when he delivers a speech. He says that don’t put too much personal information on Facebook or people might have trouble when they are interviewing new job. In my opinion, if users can prevent themselves from using too Facebook much, Facebook is surely a good way to connect with friends; also, meet more friends around the world.
