Facebook has been a hot issue in Taiwan recently. According to a news report, it is said that there are three million and seven hundred people playing the game “Happy Harvest” on Facebook, and there are three million and two hundred people of them comes from Taiwan. This amazing statistics shows that Taiwanese are following the fashion trend, Facebook fever.
I was one of the members playing the game “Happy Harvest” before. The first thing I did on Facebook was playing these games, and the process of planting the agriculture needs lots of time. It proves that all good things are worth waiting. Playing games really makes me unleash the pressure suffered from the daily life, and it just became one part of my schedule. I feel like I am a real farmer; taking care of the agriculture is my responsibility. In addition, most games on Facebook stimulate people to broaden the friend zone. With friends’ help, people could achieve the higher level in games. Hence, games on Facebook do not serve as a recreation activity only; it could build up the socialization as well. However, after a few weeks, I found it took too much time, considering other more important works; I never play any game on Facebook anymore. When the fever of playing games faded out, I started to figure out other functions on Facebook.
Leaving messages on friends’ wall is an interesting way to show my care, and I could receive their responses just below my message boxes. It is really a good interaction. On Facebook, I can send my friends some gifts as well. Although they are not real ones, they could represent my minds for a person. By using these simple and fast ways to interact with friends, it could make us closer even if we could not see each other so often. Also, it servers a way to share ideas and pictures with others, in that way, my friends could know what my life is going on.
However, its convenience also causes problems. People could trace back what you have done and what others have said to you since you started to use Facebook. Hence, the privacy is a big issue. There is another news, it is said that an American post his pictures which he is totally drunk on Facebook. His boss fires him because the bad behavior (drinking) will bring down the reputation of their company. It reminds us to reconsider what we should post on the Internet and what should not. We should think twice before the leap because sometimes one little mistake causes lots of regrets. Since Facebook is so popular, we should be more careful in choosing the information we release on it.
